The Mekhela Chador is a Traditional Assamese attire, of the Assamese people.
There are two main pieces of cloth that are draped around the body. The bottom portion, draped from the waist downwards is called the 'Mekhela'. The Upper half of the two-piece attire is called the 'Chador'.
These Mekhela Chadors are handwoven from Muga, by weavers from Sualkuchi, Assam. Riha sets are worn by women especially during the festival of Bihu.
The Mekhela Chador(or Assamese Silk Sarees) can be worn on all kinds of special occasions like weddings, housewarming parties, festivals, etc.
This Riha Set includes 1 Chadar, 1 Mekhela. The Blouse piece is attached.
This particular design is also available on Pat or Toss silk.
